I was born in Los Angeles in April of 1940. My family lived in West Hollywood until 1948. Then we moved to the community of Pacific Palisades, which is on the coast just north of Santa Monica.

My parents gave me a Brownie Hawkeye camera when I was ten years old, and that was the beginning of my life-long interest in photography. I also had a strong interest in graphics starting in high school. As things turned out, I spent my working career in graphics, designing and selling signs. I was in the sign business from 1971 until my son took over a few years ago. I bought a 30” digital printer in 2006 to produce the signage and we now share it – he makes signs and I print the photos.

Photography is in the family. My Uncle Al (Albert L. Bresnik) was Amelia Earhart’s personal photographer for five years. He photographed her just before she left for her last trip in 1937. In 1987 he gave me five prints from that photoshoot and duplicates are available here.

Another famous photographer in the family is Albert’s grandson Randy Bresnik. He’s a NASA astronaut with two missions to his credit: a 2009 trip to the Space Station and a 2017 Space Station assignment as Commander. He loves photography and has shot hundreds of images in space and on Earth.

I've been living in Escondido, California, for almost forty-five years. I was married to Sylvia Bresnik for fifty-two years until she had a fatal cycling accident in April of 2017. So, I’m on my own now -- not where I wanted to be at this age, but I had fifty-two wonderful years with Sylvia. We had five children together and five grandchildren. She was a triathlete and had done many triathlons, marathons and century bike rides over the years. She was also a hiker and, in her early 70s, she climbed Mt. Whitney twice.

My photographic focus in on the antique cars of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. I use my Nikon or my iPhone and then I digitally alter the image using image-editing software. During the summer in Escondido, we have a car show every Friday night. I get many of my images from these shows, as well as attending other shows either locally or in other parts of the country.
